EMULATOR @ This Saturdays SEMINAR!!! 4/21/12

Yay! The time has come for the 3rd DJ Seminar, Located at Sam Ash in Castleton (Indianapolis). I have been so excited to see an ” Emulator “….Wait til you see ” The Ultimate DJ Apparatus “.

This is the 1st (I also believe it may be the only) ” Multi-Touch Midi Controller PC Hardware for DJ’s ” ( As quoted in Smithson Martin ).

This 46” inch TV touch screen is AMAZING, especially for people in the audience watching DJ’s spin…YOU CAN SEE EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING on a transparent screen.

If that’s not cool enough, You Will Be Able To See It Up Close And Personal at this Saturdays Seminar .

Donations for this event will be benefiting a wonderful cause, ” Music Therapy At Riley’s Hospital For Children ” and this event is Free for the whole family.

I am excited, as I am for every seminar and having the ” Emulator “ there is just a bonus, because I am so anxious to get a peek.

For more information about the event go to: samashmusic.com or call (317) 577-3006.

Feel free to email me with any questions or leave a comment: miasherblogger@rocketmail.com

  • Trends Be Gone! Trends Begin!……It’s Spring 2012!!

Early this year I wrote several of my Stylish and Fashion Forward Friends (or people I respect in the fashion business) a question. The question I asked was the following:” what trends do you wish would go away in 2012 (Hair styles, Makeup, Fashion Accessories) and what trends do you see looking forward to 2012” ….which I meant to write in January of this year but had to push it back til now. Here are what some of these fabulous and trend setting people had to say.

Ever Since High School, I have loved and admired the style and consciousness of my amiga Honie Bunny Ortiz. I had to ask her this question and she replied:

“Fashion accessories- feather earrings. Hair style-lopsided hairdos and mohawks. Clothes- colorful plaid, total copycat cookie cut 80’s hip hop,
and cheap fabrics. Peace out to those styles.”

If anyone know’s Me they know that Valenese Brewington is my chica and one of Indy’s top Models… as well as a SPUNKY energetic go getter for her business Valeo resources ( valeneseb@weebly.com ). Click the link to see some of her work and add her on facebook…Here is here view point :

” Personally I think that the wide leg boot cut pants should come back in still, I like skinny leg jeans but they are a damn hassle to get on and off sometimes. Hair styles, they should get rid of mirco braids, makeup the drag queen look should gooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! “

Owner Of ” So Anxious Clothing ” ( www.soanxiousclothing.com ) Anj Blanchard has a right to give an opinion after being in the game for a while. Outfitting me for her show  ” battle of the frames ” and doing enough fashion shows in my new home state, Anj knows how to bring the fly and sexy back in your life…Her comment:

” Fashion Accessories: I feel that Feather Accessories will disappear in 2012 because their is only so much you can do with them when it comes to Earrings and Necklaces. That is why I am not investing in buying anymore. wink “

I have always respected Da’Nisha Greene as a stylist and friend and that is reflected all over my blog. I have written several post with her name in it but have never posted her style point of view.

    Danisha: ( www.yoursinfashion.com )

” Hard hair & tacky up dos, plastic colorful jewelry that only CHILDREN should wear, cheap clothes that are poorly made, sneaker heels, & guys that wear white socks with black shoes or any color shoes what wrong with footsies or ankle socks? Picnic table prints & zoot suits I HATE men who wear PASTEL colored suits with matching dress shoes… I look forward to bright colors, crazy prints & color blocking clothes, 70’s & 60’s inspired clothes & accessories, lots of rock & roll like spikes, & stuffed items, leather etc definitely look forward to crazy more timeless clothing that can be worn with anything & never go out of style… Definitely looking forward to more tailored pieces & embellished clothing & accessories. Use of non traditional materials are on the rise & definitely futuristic!!! I’ll stop I could go on & on “

If you have not read my Q&A with Designer Khyla Barnes of ” G.Ingles ” ( www.ginglesdirect.com ) then you should. I of course had to ask her as well…

“   In my opinion, hopes that these neon colors fade out like a hair tint. Its too much and very distracting. I’m hoping the skinny jean fades away too, horrible spandex, this china fad of cheap clothing, moon boots, and add too much lycra to everything hats, shirts, pants, etc and overly retro looks. In my opinion..”hated it”. I’m hoping, simple colors will return, color matching and complimenting not the full matchy matchy suits to shows. I’d like the clean prep look come back. For kid clothing to look like kid clothing. Adorable. More modern and respectable looks for plus sizes. Less sloppy guy looks. The sagging looks like the ghost of criss cross pass. Let it die and bald. I’d like the clean cute guy look come back. The clean tee, that isn’t a man dress. That’s my take “

I recently wrote a blog post featuring my amiga ” Angel Hicks-Drane” owner of ” Twenty-Eight Boutique ( https://www.facebook.com/#!/TWENTYEIGHTBOUTIQUE )and her fashion show “Proud to be me “ (take time to read )…as well as a post on my blog that features the many looks she has sent to me for events. Ms. Hicks-Drane ’ the in’s and out’s of trends past and present…may I present Ms. Hicks-Drane..

” *clears throat… okay I am ready to see skinny too tight jeans for guys go away… I’d love for the ladies to take full advantage of twenty-eight boutique professionalism and allow me to make you look the part… if not me then there are other highly qualified boutiques in this beautiful city that can upgrade them at a nice price… I’d like to see the women start wearing heels more and know how to strut there stuff with out looking like a slut(yeah that rhymed) I would like for as Rebecca said the colored lips (blues greens) to fall off into space somewhere… I hope that this spring people have watched the full season of what not to wear and take their advice… bring out the pretty blues yellows pinks purples of spring that are tasteful and THERE SIZE.. and go with nice hair … not dramatic… nice gloss/lipstick.. real clean and classic it’ll make spring so much better “

Suave and Debonair stylist Mr. Bryant Hendrix( https://www.facebook.com/#!/prettyhendrix/info ),  has worked with a plethora of local magazines in this lovely city and styled even more…so he knows fashion and style. Enchanting as he is and humble Bryant also found time to join the convo…

” I really cant say I have a trend that I want to go away. Although I do or wish that some would reinvent itself… *classic *cocktail *ready to wear  AS STYLE ALWAYS DO! Thus as we head into the 2013 I think that most Americans are really into fashion and has stated a fashion renaissance.A lot of fashion seekers has been noted for personalizing looks and details that in return makes their personal look their very own… so if I had to pic a look it would be the looks that are direct copies or cookie cutter from designers or etc.”

Master bead-er and true Artist Ms. Onye Obama-Ndika is more than just gorgeous she is a breathe of fresh air. A kind person both inside and out, she is well respect for her craft and knowledge..so I had to get her perspective.

” definitely want to see ‘sneaker-heels’ d.i.e. The strappy stiletto (‘Gladiator’-style) is welcome to stay. I heard finger-waves came back and I guess it’s cool as long as the gels don’t do as much damage to hair as they did back in the 80s. I’m not a fan of feathers (except peacock) but I see that sticking around for a bit longer. Since Tangerine Tango is the Pan-tone Color of the Year (2012), many warm tones that compliment that color will be popular as well. I say, ‘watch how you mix them.’ ‘Military glam’ was big either last winter or previous. All the boxy caps and dark-grey outer-wear (see Burberry’s collection) is also well-liked and I would like to see those stick around. And I am biased (I love ♥ geometry), but I love ties and scarves with vintage scroll-work prints and/or micro-tile prints. Always a valid accessory.I say ‘More Sass & Class, Less Brash & Flash’.

Friend, Colleague and mentor to myself and many others Ms. Rebecca Rivers (https://www.facebook.com/rebeccariver/info?ref=ts#!/pages/LU-Cosmetics-LLC/159143213386) deserves a bow. Ms. Rivers is an all around boss, with her own makeup line (which I wear) and also a Makeup artist, Rebecca has seen it all in her vast years of experience and talent that she lovingly shares with us all. Here is her point of view on makeup this year:

” I look forward to weird lip glosses and lipstick colors become a fashion choice of the past. I mean green lips?…really!!! What r u a martian. I’m really happy that the more traditional colors of the not so distant past are appearing once more on the beauty horizon for 2012. Look for juicy reds, luscious nudes and vibrant corals to bloom like flowers this spring. I cant wait “.

If you ever want custom shoes and clothing, I know who to recommend… “Ms. Jaime Lee Dampier”, that’s who! This woman is awesome at her craft and you should definitely give a look and request some custom pieces, here is a link to her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Eimaj-Designs-by-Dampier/103074932348?sk=info#!/pages/Eimaj-Designs-by-Dampier/103074932348?sk=photos

Jaime: “can hipsters just fade please? that would stop a lot of bad fashion choices “

I did a Q&A with my friend and up and coming stylist Gold Bird after we met at a fashion show, and from there it is history. She was the first to accessorize me and get me something beautiful to wear for an event and she is unfiltered with her opinions and always says it straight. get more info about Gold Bird at: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100003354079507&ref=ts#!/profile.php?id=100003354079507 and read my Q&A to see how it all began.

“I wanna see Impeccable Styles in all closets in 2012….;) No but really I would love for shoulder pads to come back…..I so love those!

I hate hate, hate, hate clothes with readable labels….Dereon…South Pole….Coogi…If I can see who made it it sucks…..”

Thanks to all my Friends that answered my question, I really appreciate your input. I ask that all my readers respect they’re opinions, read them, and comment in a positive manner. Peace and love to all and lets get READY FOR SPRING!!

  • Diane Von Furstenberg Goes Baby Gap!

Following the List of high end designers that are making the leap and designing limited edition lines for popular retail stores…Diane Von Furstenberg is designing a children’s line for ” Baby Gap “ (In Selected stores).

People went wild for Missoni and John Wu for Target and Versace and Cavali for H&M but now it seems like the kiddies get a chance as well. When asked on the ” Today Show “ whats the appeal ” (of working with retail chains and bringing the designs to the masses)

“It’s a fun challenge because, you want to do something fun and optimistic, something with easy shapes so that little girls can move and you want to do something that both mothers and children would love “

Seeing the line on TV today was nice, because I love the prints on the dresses and leggings and the hip lining inside the blazers. The cutest thing ever, was seeing 8 year old NYC native: DJ Fulano spinning on the turntables as the lovely little ladies walked out on the stage.

Ms.Von Furstenberg followed up towards the end of the segment by saying:

” It’s all about optimism and Joie De Vivre  ( Joi De Vivre = The Joy of Living ) and practical “

    Go to: http://www.gap.com/products/baby-clothes.jsp

to see if her designs are in a store near you.
